Grout is porous and if left unsealed it will allow dirt and other contaminates to become trapped below the surface, where they can’t be removed with regular mopping. Over time the dirt continues to build up  making  tile and grout look  dark and dirty. This dirt build-up is an excellent breeding ground for bacteria, mould and mildew.  Most people don’t even think about it but  mopping with a dirty mop using dirty water is the worst contributor for this dirty looking build up of contamination.

If the staining isn’t too bad and we are able get the grout back to near its original condition, in this case  we would clear seal the grout to protect it from further staining and increase its longevity.
However results depend on how long it has been dirty for, type of situation, how long since it was last sealed (if ever!) and the type of grout.  If we are not able to achieve an acceptable level of cleaning Tiles and Grout , then we recommend our Colourseal service

Sealing Grout – Clear Sealer

Clear Grout sealer is best applied to new grout as soon as possible  after installation of ALL new grout. This ensures stain resistance and protection right from the start so that  no staining has a chance to occur, this also helps with water proofing and therefore is longevity.

We use high quality, professional sealer designed to soak deep into the grout to protect it from future discoloration and staining. Re-Grouting Tiles
